TOV Siding & Roofing turned a standard gable roof in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood into a dramatic view experience overlooking the Olympic Mountains. We removed the aging 3-tab roofing and framed a central “well” that houses a black-clad stair pop-up, then laid new roof sheathing and installed CertainTeed Landmark® architectural shingles in “Charcoal.”
The stair enclosure is wrapped in matte-black, pre-finished steel panels that tie into custom bent metal drip edge for a seamless, water-tight transition. Composite deck boards in “Ashwood Gray” span the new roof deck, while powder-coated steel cable railings preserve 270-degree sightlines to Salmon Bay, Queen Anne, and the downtown skyline.
Low-profile ridge vents, ice-and-water membrane at all valleys, and self-sealing pipe boots bring the assembly up to a 50-year weather warranty. An integrated LED sconce and black handrail light the staircase for safe, code-compliant access without cluttering the clean aesthetic.
